I agree - hot glue gun glue on the hands is not a pleasant experience. Pain is a harsh, but effective teacher. =)

As a follow up to this thread I just wanted to add that I've finally filled the water holding tank all the way and there were NO leaks! YAY!

I, however, did find a 4" blow out hole in the hot water tank while I was testing the water holding tank..... =) Poor winterizing on my part.

I've been VERY fortunate with the number of things that could have been wrong with this rig so far but haven't been. So I'm happy of all the things I have to replace, I can upgrade the hot water heater. =)
