Water pump electrical connections

We have a '04 HR 36' diesel pusher. We don't get much chance to use it due to family obligations, but I do run the engine and generator every few months. Since we live in central Florida, I thought I would sanitize the fresh water tanks and add water because we may live in it if we lose power to our house due to Hurricane Irma.
I had not opened the large compartment that houses the water connections in about 2 years, until today. I found that the door light switch, the manual switch, the panel that shows the various tank levels and the water pump and it's indicator light all not working. I see a lot of rusty corrosion on the steel parts. I had a plastic sealed container of granular spa chlorine in the compartment, which I think is the cause.
My question is about the pump. I have no experience with one, but I plan to disconnect the wire connections, clean them up and reconnect them to fix it.
Have you ever had this happen? If so, what did you do? Or, do you have a better idea than I do? Fixing the other items should be easy, but not I am sure about the pump.

The water pump is very simple electrically, with power applied it should run (providing there is no pressure in the plumbing system).

Check for voltage at the pump. If you have power there, pump is bad.

If you don't have power, work your way back the circuit until you find dc voltage.
