Water softener size

I’m sure there’s been posting this before, but when I do a search on my phone I don’t seem to get any results. So excuse my question .

Looking at the on the go soft water system. What size do you use? We have a washer and dryer and two bathrooms. What’s your best experience and vendor to purchase it.

Thank you!

Washer & dryer and 1 bath, the smaller of the portable blue ones that uses 1 pound of salt to recharge found on Amazon would last us 3 weeks wintering in AZ. Went to next size up that uses 2 pound of salt, 4 to 5 weeks.

If you have room, and can easily handle the weight, get the 16,000 grain softener. Only difference in operation between the 8,000 grain and the 16,000 grain is the number of times you have to recharge it.
My softener is a 10,000 grain and while in AZ this past winter, I ran out of soft water at 250 gal. The number of gallons it will soften is totally dependent on the hardness of the water where you are located.

WDW-

On the Go Recommends the double (link here). It uses two 26-ounce containers of table salt for a recharge. The amount of time between recharges depends on the amount of minerals in the inlet water and the amount of minerals you are willing to tolerate in the outlet water.

You can buy from the supplier associated with this site (link here), and others. At the moment, the On the Go site (link above) is selling it for less.

Get the 16,000 or Double softener. We have a washer drier and a dishwasher and full time for 9 years now. Depending on the water quality where we are, we can go 2 to 4 weeks between recharge cycles.

I bought the 16K "On The Go" and had planned to put it out on the ground each time we camped. When it arrived, I realized that even empty it was heavy and was something I would soon grow tired if doing. I mounted it in a bay and ran flexible hosing to it.

Make sure you get the measurements of each model and have a plan for where you are going to put it. We wouldn’t leave home without ours because we know what hard water does to appliances.

We have the Double On The Go and I have ours mounted on the opposite side of the coach with hose running to it. It sits in a pan with a water alarm in case of a leak. We have it installed with easy access hose couplers which allows for easy removal to regenerate.

Ours last about 2 weeks or maybe less with 2 people depending on water hardness before needing a regeneration.

I think we bought ours directly from On The Go.
