Water "Spitting" When Using The Pump While Boondocking

Will a Accumulator Tank solve the spitting? It makes it really hard to wash dishes..... Doesn't do it all the time but it does it....

Thanks LeeB

Any recommendations.....?

The pump is sucking air somewhere. Check the clamps on the hoses at the pump, tighten them. Or, you are low on water.

I would think your system has a accumulator factory installed, if you have pressure after you turn off your water pump odds are you do.

Spitting is from air being sucked in
Pump suction line ...hose clamps loose
Winterizing line...valve partially open
Pump strainer ....cracked/bad o-ring
Pump casing cracked

Somewhere on suction side of pump is allowing air to be pulled in

If it seems to be a problem that happens first thing in the morning or when the water hasn't been run for awhile let it run for a couple of minutes. If it spits at first then starts to run smooth and continues to run smooth it's probably a bad check valve.

If it keeps spitting it's sucking air from a leak between the pump and fresh water tank.

An accumulator will help stabilize water pressure and maintain a steady flow rate. Spitting, is as others have mentioned, is air in the system.

Bad check valve as in the pump internal check valve?
If pump check valve is not fully closing the pump would short cycle due to loss of pressure
Check valve is internal to pump...under pressure

Air (Spitting) can only be sucked in from pump suction side

I'm home now so I will be able to look a little closer. I did see yesterday that the in side of the pump did in fact have air traveling backwards towards the tank. I'll have to get in there and look at all the fittings on the incoming.

Thanks much LeeB

If your water heater is working on ac when it does that, it could also be a bad heating element.

Do you turn the water pump off after each use? If so, try leaving it on and see if the pump runs for brief periods with no water turned on. That would indicate that it is losing pressure back into the tank unless there is a leak somewhere.

No we were Boondocking and it was running on propane

No we do not turn it off. However there was a couple times that the water pump did do a short run, turns out it was the toilet running and as soon as I raddled the foot peddle it would not do that anymore... Rebuilding the toilet is on the list of things to do.
I can see air (bubbles) being drawn back towards the fresh water tank I have to get out and check the INPUT line to the pump.

Not following how heating water would have any affect on system getting air into it.
Electric or propane are just heating sources......do the same thing

electricity reacting with the water from a element shorted and current going through water. Makes your water very hot and the tp valve leak.

Happened to me recently. The small screw-on filter on the water pump had a hairline crack allowing it to suck some air.
