Water System Heat

So... now that I am in the Rockies and its my first trip with a Class A, I am wondering about the water system in freezing temps.

I seem to remember someone saying that the Ford F53 runs hot engine coolant back into the basement to both cool the engine (increase the capacity of the cooling system) and warm the basement.

As well, I got the impression that running the furnace in the coach will also warm the basement.

Are any of those true? .... Not sure if this is a Class A forum, F53 forum or Winnebago forum question?

Check your owner's manual. I've certainly seen engine coolant used to run through the water heater to give it a boost, but not heard of using it to heat the wet bay. Many RVs use a furnace duct in the wet bay to keep it heated. I suggest using a wireless remote thermometer in the wet bay to monitor temperature. I also carry a 'trouble light' with an incandescent bulb (75W) to add to the temperature if it needs. it.

Do you have a switch on the dash for engine heat to the coach? We have a 2 speed fan switch. Ours blows engine heat through the same floor ducts as the furnace does. Based on that I would think that some of that heat will be forced into the basement.

Our Class A on an F53 chassis does not send engine heat anywhere but the furnace does vent to the wetbay.

I do not see anything in my manuals and there is no switch on my dash. Only switches are the battery assist and turning off the dash entertainment player.

Oh well....
