Weather Pro Awning Wind sensor

My rooftop awning wind sensor has broken. From what I can find out they are not available anymore, but there is a conversion package that moves the sensor to the arm. My controller is in my basement and when I asked the manufacturer how I’m supposed to reroute the wiring they were clueless. Has anyone done this change and know how it works? Maybe it abandons the existing controller?

I did not have exactly the same problem, but when my
sensor failed/malfunctioned, I decided that I could live
without it. I simply no longer leave the awning
out more than 2' or so when away from the MH or when
the day has ended and we go to sleep.

Coloradobend,
May I ask, does your controller look like the one in the picture?

Colorado,
The wind sensor that was used in mine when the awnings were installed has absolutely nothing to do with the top of the coach. It's a small, black box, about 1/2 the size of a pack of cigarettes, located inside the upper section of the awning arm, closest to the entry door. It's actually inside the motor frame which, sits as stated, in the upper part of the awning arm. It works in a different fashion than a traditional wind sensor works. It's a VIBRATION detector.

When the wind starts to pick up, the awning fabric will "flap" some. Depending on the setting I have selected for "auto-retract", (LOW, MEDIUM AND HIGH WINDS), once that fabric starts flapping, the severity of the flapping will send a vibration through the mechanism and therefore, vibrate that little black box. Once that's detected, it sends a signal down through the wiring, to that control box which intern, closes the "retract" switch and, the awning retracts all the way in.

Now, could you install that system on yours, well, yeah but, it ain't gonna be easy. You see, you're gonna have to either fish a new wire down through a side wall or, go right through the side wall, to the inside of the coach and, run the wire and decorative conduit to the floor, then through the floor to the control box. Hope this helps some.
Scott
