I don’t ever remember stopping at one ever. The majority of my travels are west of Mississippi.

Well,
We've been in, around and through, at least 30 of our 50 states, towing various toads. And not one of them, EVER has had us drive into any form of a weigh station. And we've gone through a few "agricultural" ones too and never been weighed or motioned to be placed into a scale.

Stopped in Montana at a scale once and they were nice of enough for weighing it, as well. We usually keep a few readouts of these, among the paperwork and a tire inflation chart.

I've passed over a couple "Weight in motion" strips that flagged me to pull into the weigh station, not sure why? maybe a slow day at the weigh station and they asked anything over a certain weight to enter the scale. Anyway, I ignored them and have never pulled into a weigh station.
