Wet exhaust fitting

Hello All,

I am looking into buying this 1998 American Dream with a Cummins 8.3L mechanical engine. The wet fittings in this picture give a bit of a concern. Yes, I have not owned a diesel before and want to at least have an idea of what I might be getting into before I purchase.

Thank you one and all,

Mike

To post a pic (or any file), scroll down to "Additional Options --> Manage Attachments --> Browse --> [select file from your computer] --> Upload.

Then if you hit "Preview Post" next to the "Submit", you can see if it's there..

That's a aftermarket "muffler" ....but I don't really see any oil on pipe joints, the wet look may just be condensation, have you ran it a while before this pic was taken?

Check oil / coolant level & start it up, use the cruise switch and bump rpm up to 11/1300 for 30/45 min.

Note any smoking from exhaust and blow by at crankcase vent hose, it'll be a 3/4" or so hose that runs down right beside oil filter, may have to get under coach to see it.
