What do you buy before you pick up your Class A?

Your about two weeks out from picking up your first RV, a new Class A motorhome, a diesel pusher if that's important. What are the "Must Have Items" that need to be purchased? Please don't give brands we can get to that later. Just items by type and why it's a must if not obvious?

I'll start it off with;

• Insurance for motorhome.
• Car insurance, is it car covered while towed by motorhome?
• Surge protector for incoming power.
• Tow Dolly for front wheel drive vehicle.

You guys take it from here for the MUST items. I'll make another thread later on for items after the must haves are covered.

Thanks a lot

Are they going to give you a "starter kit" that includes sewer hose, connectors, toilet paper, water hose, water pressure regulator and 30 to 50 amp adapter? Those are necessary right off the showroom floor.

First and foremost, a Good Surge protection ( No the one that is installed is not anywhere good enough ) Progressive or Surge Guard.
second a water softener will save you headaches from constantly cleaning the hard water and lime deposits from your sinks, baths, showers, water heater !
Third a good set of small tools for the everyday fix it repairs.

If you are going somewhere away from home to pick it up don't forget pillows, sheets, blanket and towels.

When I bought our used MADP, the first thing I ordered even before I took possession was a set of new tires.

You might want to consider a tow dolly with a self-contained "Surge Brake" system. Otherwise, you would need to purchase an auxiliary braking system that others have mentioned.

Check the DOT Date code on the tires (do a search on this forum if you aren't sure what this is) and purchase a new set of tires. You should also look for evidence of cracking on the sidewalls as well. Check page 9 of the Michelin RV Tire Brochure (link is https://www.michelinb2b.com/wps/b2bc...s_Brochure.pdf ) to give you an indication of what to look for.
