Angry What is going on with my couch??

The fabric on my couch is literally peeling off. It stared peeling 6 months after we bought it new. We tried to cover it, but that didn’t stop it from peeling. It is also peeling on the capital chairs. Any suggestions? Do I reupholster it, buy a brand new couch ??

Year, make , model. We are not licensed detectives.
IF they are Flexsteel, Bauer's upholstery in Dubuque, Iowa has all the patterns and much better material.
I got new covers for the 2 front seats a couple of years back and they went on as an easy DIY. All you need are hog ring pliers, and You Tube to do them at home

If the upholstery is peeling, the make, model and year of the coach are irrelevant. The material that Flexsteel uses is garbage. Find a local upholstery shop that can re-cover the seats and couch in a more durable material. I just had it done here in southern California and I couldn't be happier with the results.

Right, doesn't matter the make of the RV, it's the furniture the manufacturer put in it. Friends of ours have a Thor motorhome, believe it's a 2017 model, with the leather looking furniture that is peeling. His family doesn't get to use the rig very often so the problem isn't because of wear and tear. The material just doesn't age well. I've read about this in other threads on here.

Reupholstering is about the only thing that can be done.

Because we have a 2013 Thor Palazzo 33.2, we had to reupholster the couch. It is custom to the chassis. The floor is not flat behind it. The storage compartment comes in behind it. The cost was $4160.00 at a custom high end car shop. Take it apart inside and bring the parts to the shop. We replaced the dinette with one from Shop4seats. We love it and is an upgrade from the oem. We are also going to replace the captain chairs as well and will be from them as well so they match the dinette. A note about the dinette. The seats are thick, firm, do not let you bottom sink anywhere near the board under it, and are much more comfortable. They do extend out more. I will replace the OEM table to fit the slightly narrower space with a butcher block top. You can get the material at the local big hardware store. There are many other RV furniture stores on line. So shop around. Google it.

This is an ongoing long issue. There's tons of threads here on the subject.

Yes, you can reupholster it if you like it & want to keep it. Or, you can trash it & get one you like.

Reupholstering aint cheap if done with OE or custom made. I did my captains chairs with covers from Villa international & I had almost a grand in each chair. Replacement captains chairs are crazy expensive so recovering was worth it. For what it might cost to recover a sofa I would likely be looking at replacing the sofa. I tossed my sofa & replaced with a unit from Bradd & Hall.

It happened to us practically overnight in our Thor Four Winds 28z. We ended up having the couch and the dinette seats and backs reupholstered (in Fort Lauderdale). We used marine-grade vinyl for the reupholstery. It looked fantastic when it was done. So if you're in southern Florida, and want a name, PM me.

The vinyl on the sleeper sofa and the driver's and passenger seats in my 2016 Itasca Navion disintegrated within a few years after I bought it new. Winnebago did send me replacement covers for the front seats but not the sofa (it lasted a little longer than the seats, just long enough that the warranty expired). I never did replace the seat covers but put sheepskins on the seats instead, the covers are still in my garage. I'm not sure whether the replacements are the same material as was originally used but they look and feel the same and if they are in fact the same stuff there's no point in changing them it seems to me. So I bought a dual recliner couch from Lambright and had it upholstered in Ultraleather - expensive but well worth it. The Ultrleather is tough stuff, cleans up with Isopropyl alcohol as I found out when a ball point pen accidentally marked it up. Now I'm looking for replacement front seats as the Mercedes seats aren't all that comfortable anyway and getting full replacements doesn't seem much more expensive than having the originals recovered. Anyone replaced Sprinter seats with aftermarket seats?
