If they are offering to tow you to their place then the shop in the am for one price that makes sense ... if they can get you power if you need it. While your waiting yelp or google repair shop reviews where you’ll be. Your on the road and pretty much at the mercy of whomever. Get all the info you can and flip the coin. The fix isn’t hard if the driveline isn’t bent or damaged .. just a new u joint.
Sunday is the day I’ve always had issues .. or Friday at 5 ! There seems to be a unwritten rule about that. Ain’t rv’s great!

Yeah, Friday might be even worse. Maybe on a weekend with a Monday holiday!

Actually, they said they charge by the hour and so they would charge to tow me there and then charge separately to tow me yet again somewhere else. I think they are located in E. Lancaster, I don't know the area very well, but it's possible they could be taking me in the wrong direction depending where I end up getting repairs. I should have asked if they had somewhere to plug in!

Maps shows there are several repair places in East Lancaster.

Getting back on the road, and getting it 100% fixed are two different things.

Just about anyone should be able to replace the broken U-joint for you, and take a quick look at the others. That'd get you home.

Then you'd have time to properly have the pinion seal checked, replace the other U-joints if needed, and checkout the driveshaft(s). No need to pay top, side of the road, dollar for that.

And as someone said, chock the wheels, before you or anyone thinks about going under it for a closer look.

I am thinking I will have them tow me to the Lancaster Elks, so I will hopefully have a place to plug in. It's actually in the same general area as the towing company, so if they have to tow me again, and since they charge by the hour, and there seem to be repair places around there (someone at an Acton RV center recommended Bob Howle automotive & RV, also in that area), it would be close. I dunno...I just figure if I get stuck for several days for some reason, it might be good to be somewhere?

I wonder if I can convince a pizza place to deliver by the side of the road.

Do you know where you are at... what road hiway etc. Were you going to stay at the Elks and camp there. Is there anyone you can call from that area?
I live in Santa Clarita, about 30 or so miles from Palmdale. PM me so we can talk on the phone.

Yes, I'm on Avenue S in Palmdale. I am not sure how to PM on this site, maybe I am overlooking a little icon. I was going to stay at the Elks in either Palmdale or Lancaster. It's a weird time to be traveling...Elks lodges are mostly closed but reportedly the RV parking is mostly open.

Use the e-brake. Park isn't going to work right now.

Find sticks or boards to chock the tires.

If the E brake is on the drive shaft, its not going to work.

I wouldn't have it towed to a RV place for this repair.

If it's on a Ford chassis, look there, otherwise a heavy truck repair shop.
