What the heck!!

Well, well, well, I was trying to move the motor home out of the overhead cover, I got the awning caught on two bolts on metal support posts which attaches the roof. This caused damage to the metal cover and fabric, when I was able to free the awning, the momentum cause me to ram the side mirror into the same post destroying the side mirror, adding insult to injury, I didn't see my metal rocking chair in front of the motor home and ran over it possibly causing the windshields to pop out and the driver side breaking. Waiting on insurance adjuster. Ugggg. God has a reason and we are good with that. All this just for one small road trip.

We had a perfect outing a few weeks ago and it was only in the last 20 feet when backing into the side yard did we not check the mirrors a third time and ran up against the mailbox, again!
A few ugly scratches into the paint of a basement door. Still need to fix those and the leaning mailbox.

if you didnt lose any skin in the accident, you are good.
insurance replaces damaged items, you have to grow new skin yourself.

Tough metal chair if it broke the windshield! Seems like the roads alone would do it now.

How did the chair break the windshield? Big difference in height.

Sorry, this story doesn't make sense.......

IF any of this sequence is true you would be hard pressed to get me to ride in anything with the OP. Accidents aren't always accidents. They are caused.
A simple walk around the MH before attempting to move it could have saved a lot of damage.
Operator error isn't what I would call bad luck. I feel badly for the metal rocking chair but I am glad is wasn't a family pet or even worse a child playing.

Well, the posts holding up the roof are 1/2 inch thick steel and the bolts holding the roof down are 1 inch thick protruding about 4 inches inward. The awning has a metal cover and this is what snagged the bolts. Everything painted the same color so easy to miss. It seemed to me I was clear of the post but it didn't dawn on me about the bolts coming into contact with the awning. I have lived and traveled in this same motor home since 2010 so very familiar with safety first but sometimes things happen we don't have and answer for. Nothing fun about this whole affair.

In the interest of the well being of the thousands of folks on this forum I am respectfully requesting that the OP post his itinerary for the next year and update it yearly.

Thanks for your cooperation, safe travels.

Please take in jest.
