I'm looking at a system. Flow through nor no flow through; does it matter?

When the sensor screws on to the valve stem it create a seal, I believe the less I break and establish that seal the better. On my RV I use the flow through type and on my toad I use the non flow through type. I like the flow through better on the Tire safeguard. The batteries are easier to change and putting in air is easier/better. To check the toad I have to unscrew the sensor which causes an alarm to go off in the RV. Then my wife yells at me.

Flow through are more convenient but heavier and depending on your valve configuration may not be the best choice.

Most complaints of sensors leaking have been on the flow through type.

Phil, we were trying to go with the flow-through b/c we had read some negative reviews of the non-flow through. However the EEZ, at the time, didn’t distinguish between the two, so we were somewhat confused. I called and was told it is the TPMS Anti-Theft models that are flow through:

TIRE PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE MONITORING SYSTEMS (TPMS-6 Anti-Theft)

Bent valve stem too

BTW, we had one tire with a bent valve stem that no one in our are could repair. We tried to replace it ourselves, but the replacement immediately lost major air pressure. So we put the old bent stem back in. Anyway, long story short, haha ... the EEZ had no problems monitoring that tire as my husband manually checked for a comparison on all tires to make sure the EEZ was functioning properly. We took off for our 850 mile trip to Florida. One thing I will say ... it could drive a micro-manager/control-freak (me) crazy watching the thing monitor from tire to tire, haha, and wondering why one tire has changed in a pound of pressure from another reading or another dually pair. I had to force myself to stop watching.

Flow-Thru" are heavier so you MUST have bolt in valve stem. Personally, I don't see the need for flow through as my +10% inflation level means I can go months before the inflation drops low enough that I have to add air.
You still need to run metal valve caps if you use Flow-thru

TST Truck System Tech

TST 507 Series 6 Flow Thru Sensor TPMS System with Color Display ($364.99)
TST 507 System Tow Car Pack, 4 Sensors ($150)
Recommended by Mike Benson at TST 210-420-0132

Many different kinds of packs and sensors so I told Mike what I had
(Class A RV with 90psi in front tires, 110psi in duel rear tires, pulling a tow dolly with 45psi tires, with a 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage at 44psi in the rears on the dolly. The Mirage has a “Tire pressure monitoring system”.

I chose not to go with the flow thru as they are a bit more bulky. The cap needs to be reoved before adding air anyway. It's just as easy to remove the transmitter as The cap.
And the non flo thru can be used with the anti theft housing or not.

If you go to the EEZ web site the anti theft are not flow through. The ones that are flow through look bulkier and the words indicate they are flow through.

Flow through are a little easier when raising or lowering pressure, but Tire Safeguard recommends a bracket support, since they are heavier. We used the non-flow through type, which work on a metal or rubber stem. With a good tire gauge, it's easy to adjust tire pressure.
