Unsafe? Please explain your comment. If overloaded, any coach is unsafe. If your tires are not inflated properly, any coach is unsafe and so on.

The OP is not going on 3-4 day rallies. This will be his home. Even though he's a minimalist which is great, a full-timer needs just a wee bit more space and cargo capacity. Plus, he wants to boondock and would need bigger holding tanks.

If considering a new gasser, you will have a Ford V10 on a F53 chassis and there is plenty of information on suspension upgrades for it. Based on what I found, I budgeted for about $2K in suspension upgrades on a new 2016 coach. And if you are planning on a toad, there is a whole bunch more research to do.

We are finding out what is available out there in our price range with the features/amenities we want. Test drives are definitely in our future but only once we've narrowed down the field. No sense in test driving coaches we'd never buy.

That is all true. I'm sure there is someone full time in a Sprinter but the chassis probably isn't for us. It could work but the sacrifices would to great for us.
