Thingy

That device is a Slack Arm tool. It is used to give the user leverage when doing or undoing the slack arms on some motorhomes such as earlier Newmars. The hooks/loops go around the slack arm and the little pin sticking out of the handle operates the elbow of the slack arm.

So while it may work well for awnings, I have that exact tool in my motorhome (Newmar Bay Star Sport) and it's used for setting the locks on the slides, Several of them are two stiff for me to do just by hand and the pin goes either above or below the arm while the C shaped end grips around the lock in the middle of the arm, and pushes it up or down.

If you have a Newmar, it’s the tool to unlock the locking arms on the slides.

It’s the tool you use to lock and unlock your slide outs. It’s for the hard to reach or hard to engage locks. We use one on our 2018 Ventana. By chance do you have a Newmar?

If you have a Newmar MH, it's to lock and unlock the bars on your slide on both ends after you bring the slides in, the bars when locked keep the slide from bouncing. I don't know if other brands lock their slides when traveling like Newmar does.

Is it a Newmar

That looks like the slide locking/unlocking tool for Newmar slide locks.

Whatchamacalit is.....

We owned a Newmar Dutchstar and the “whatchamacalit” is used to lock/unlock your slide. The slight bend gives leverage for locking and unlocking each end of the slide.
Hope this helps!

Slide out hinge tool

There is a hinge on each end of a slide out. The tool is used to unlock the hinge only if you lock them. Where you can't physically reach the hinge, you use the tool to hit the bottom of the hinge to lock them, and you use the tool to hit the top of the hinge to un lock them. I have the same tool in my Newmar Bay Star.
