Just bought this Fleetwood Excursion 39C with only 16k miles. Can someone please explain what I do with this?
Thanks

That is the inside vent for a rooftop air conditioner.
Pull the 4 corner screws and you will see an air filter that probably needs to be rinsed with soapy water

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!

Congrats on the new rig! I agree with Flyer. It looks there there may be a quick air dump lever on the left that allows you to quickly cool off the immediate area instead of sending the air down the ceiling ducts. Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Yep - Flyer is spot on. Air conditioner air intake and dump control.

Just wondering.. are you referring to the little red led on the cover ? If you are.. it's just for a tiny solar panel on top of roof.. mounted on top of a/c.. to most members here post that it's about 5watts.. and useless..
Good luck and keep us posted

No. You turn the little black plastic screw in the vent that also has that solar indicator. That is the intake and where the filter is.

You can open or close those slide vents depending on where you want you cold air. Closed, they will force the air out through the central air ceiling vents. Open, the a/c air will mostly come out through the slide vents.

I think the OP is referring to the red LED as "donr103" alluded to. For many years, Fleetwood added small solar panels to the A/C shroud. They were supposed to give a trickle charge to the starting batteries. They were woefully undersized and pretty useless.

I bought my 04 in 2015. First time I got on the roof I wondered what a rusted out bbq grill was doing on top of my a/c unit. Then I saw the wire connector.

Not sure what the OP means by "what I do with this?". You don't do anything except remove it to clean/reinstall the filter & move the fin levers to direct the air either downward into the salon or through the ceiling ducts.

You never clarified if it was the red LED you were talking about. Clarity helps you get answers faster for next time. Problem, when it started also if started right after another repair, model make info like on appliance/ motor/ leveler ect. , things you checked already .

When you get a chance, please create a signature with your year/make/model of RV in it. You can do this via the User CP tab. That signature will, then, show on all your posts without typing that info in all the time, making it much easier for us to help you when you have questions.
