I have no idea on the campgrounds in your target area. Others have covered Newsome’s orders. You may want to download the AllStays app. This would allow you to search the area you are interested in and find campgrounds, reviews, pictures and contact info. It works all over the country. It may not be the best app out there, but it’s free, easy to use and has given us good results.

Bad timing now because of the stay at home orders.
Even short term camping is prohibited but yet ski resorts will remain opened!

Yes, AllStays Camp&RV is no longer free, but it is well worth the one time fee if you have an Apple device. I find it is the most complete source out there. No campground listing source has everything, but there are more in AllStays than the other alternatives. If you have an Android, you can still use the web based version, though it isn’t as handy as the app.

They live in the southern portion (suburbs) of San Jose, California. As this’ll be our first time, of course we are super-nervous but feel you can help us have a simple and safe experience. If anyone can recommend where we could park ourselves somewhere between Gilroy and South San Jose, from Dec 23 to Dec 27, we’d appreciate it. As will our 9 and 5 year old grandkids who can’t wait to see grandma and grandpa’s new Christmas Gift!!! All the best. Anne & Jim

I had a reservation automatically cancelled by recreation.gov for Furnace Creek due to yesterday’s new guidelines, but depending on the route you take, the Pismo Dunes RV park is great, as is the Millerton Lake SRA outside of Fresno is surprisingly nice if you go up 99.

Bad timing. Christmas was cancelled starting today I think. I left that state over 15 years ago, and I'll leave it there. So yeah, what others are saying, it's a 21 day minimum stay at home order, which goes right into Christmas and your time frame. Some have suggested their driveway, in that part of the state you'd probably be turned in within the second day for some sort of illegal activity. Maybe you all could meet up in Nevada? This is crazy. You'd be more than welcome to camp out on my property but I only have hook ups for my rig and I'm over a thousand miles away from the bay area.

For your future travels, I like the Good Sam app for finding campgrounds. It uses a uniform rating system so you get a reasonable idea of whats at the CG, plus a fair indication of it's quality and cleanliness. It also tells you the typical size of the sites, which is important with your size coach. Other app's give you user's impressions, which may be slanted.
Enjoy your new coach, and we'll see you down the road!

I hate to say this but you should consider rescheduling your trip. CA has entered into it's Stay at Home order officially now. That means no lodging, rv parks, state campgrounds, etc are allowed to take new guests except for essential workers. Yes you might be able to skate around this restriction but do you really want to?

A. L. has not commented since stating "full hookups". I hope they heed all the advice, especially from CA members to stay way. This boils down to choosing between desires and logic.
