Where should we park??? First-ever trip!
Hello everyone, Dec 21,2020 to Dec 28, 2020 we’ll be making my first trip in our brand new Dutch Star 4369. It’ll be from Phoenix to San Jose CA. We’ll be visiting Grandchildren and Daughter. They live in the southern portion (suburbs) of San Jose, California. As this’ll be our first time, of course we are super-nervous but feel you can help us have a simple and safe experience. If anyone can recommend where we could park ourselves somewhere between Gilroy and South San Jose, from Dec 23 to Dec 27, we’d appreciate it. As will our 9 and 5 year old grandkids who can’t wait to see grandma and grandpa’s new Christmas Gift!!! All the best. Anne & Jim

Although I can not help with any parks where you want to go, I am sure folks who have been there will help.
In the mean time you might what to check out these sites to help you make up your mind.

Coyote RV park on Monterey Hwy.
Minutes from south San Jose.
They recently expanded the park.

Make sure you call for reservation, availability and cost first, way in advance. Getting harder to find spaces in parks. 40k RVs sold a MONTH now.

You may be limited at this point in time due to parks being filled. Many folks commute to their jobs in the greater San Jose area from the Gilroy area. I have stayed at Gilroy Garlic and it was fine.

Be aware CA has a stay at home order right now. I am doubting it will be lifted before Christmas. You should check the restrictions before traveling. And I would highly recommend a shake out cruise first close to home.

Under the current (well soon to be current) Stay at Home order RV parks are prohibited from accepting new guests unless they are considered essential workers. Obviously visiting family does not fall into that category. Given the current situation it's highly likely that you are going to have a difficult time finding a place to stay particularly in an urban area like San Jose. When we do go into lockdown, which is expected any day now, it will be for 21 days minimum and likely longer.

Doesn't visitors coming into CA have to quarantine for 14 days?

Likely better off flying the family to you. The RV park in Morgan Hill does not have openings in your time frame. I suspect others are the same. If you insist on going, park in the daughter's driveway. Good luck!

If you're coming from out of state, getting new incoming reservations at a CG may be impossible. But even if you can get them, CA has the new mandate quarantine, aka stay at home order. If you leave the park to go see grand kids in your toad—with out of state plates—who knows what might happen. Neighbors may squeal on ya. CA is crazy right now. I know we wouldn't even think of going to that state right now.

Casa de Fruita
Pacheco Pass (Hwy 152)
Just E of Hollister. Right in the Gilroy area.
Stayed there many times on the way into Laguna Seca raceway.
