Whirlpool Washer Issues

About a year into my ownership of my '15 DSDP 4369 we began having issues with the Whirlpool front load washer. After a visit from my friendly Maytag/Whirlpool repairman, he got pre-authorization from warranty and he ordered a door latch and door lock mechanism. Upon replacing the parts the washer worked for approx. 6 mos. Today it is now back to the old antics. NOT WORKING. When you close the door, the door lock light comes on as well as the wash light. At the same time the START light goes off. Tried unplugging to reset as well as slamming the door. NOTHING. How long do these latches and door locks last?? My repairman, who is kinda "old school" keeps telling me the units are not designed to take the bouncing of road travel. Beginning to make sense to me. Anyone else having these problems? I just want my washer to work...........................at least DW does! And you know what they say.....HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE! thanks in advance for your replies

Yup, just went thru the same problem with repairs in Oct. The repairmen told me they were cheaply made switches out if China and Whirlpool chooses to do nothing about the QC. They just throw another bad Chinese made switch into it. There are probably several of us feeling your pain.

When you first start it, does it make one or two revolutions?

Haven't had any issues with our WP washer with respect to the door latch, but we do get a rather interesting smell from time to time when running a wash. Doesn't seem to transfer to the clothes though.

It does nothing but click, start light that is on goes off and lock light comes on.....then off.....THEN NOTHING. I'm going to need a bigger toad for parts kit.
I don't understand the logic? Spend about $10 more on a quality part or keep paying for parts/labor to fix it. Meanwhile we deal with the inconvenience!

I’m more disappointed that Newmar keeps purchashing this piece of junk and dumping them in their quality coaches. My last coach had a 10 year old Splendide that ran like a champ.

We certainly understand the inconvenience, but the best I could get from Newmar Customer Service was a quick call to Whirlpool for a diagnostic appt, then part order, then repair date. Pain in the neck.

We had similar issues with our machine and also had the door latch replaced. The machine worked for a day and again would not start after the light would come on. The repair man then determined that the white start button on the machine was not being pushed in enough. I had some of those stick on round felt things that you put on the bottom of chair legs and stuck on on the door where it would contact the start button when closed. The machine has worked perfectly since. It does take time to start after the start light comes on so be patient. A cheap fix.

We don't have front loader anymore, but that smell is rather routine for a front loader. DW had a couple front loaders for the house and they tend to hold moisture around the big rubber seal the glass door fits into. Then the mould/mildew starts and the smell follows. Pull around on that gasket and see what you find, clean as much as possible.
One thing that helps is to wipe the gasket dry as much as possible and leave the door open, when possible, to help dry out.

Gsgarland, liked the tip on the felt pad. Will look at mine and may do this before DW has problems.

2 fixes. The hinge wears fast so the door drops down about a 1/8". It's enough so the door does not close easily and has to be slammed shut which causes wear on the locking mechanism.
Remove the hinge and recrimp the bottom side with large channel locks, then oil or grease.
2nd. Replace the locking mechanism with a newer designed one. 1 yr later still working. Without slamming door.
Also washers between lock and front face may help.
