Wind & slide out toppers?

Just spent a few days on the coast of Northern California. So windy every day I decided to bring in the slide outs to protect the slide out awnings. Finally moved inland to get out of the wind !
What do all of you folks do in those windy conditions? Is the only option to bring in the slide outs ?
Thanks for your input !
Greg

I bring my slides in as well. Luckily, my kitchen slide does not have a topper so I have a little room for comfort.

I think ours were original. 12 years old and now I have replaced them with fabric from Toughtops.. I have not worried so much about the wind.. I think the weight of rain water is the biggest problem..

My full wall slide topper used to flap in the wind and make a lot of noise. I would close it like you. I replaced it a few years ago with a carefree slide topper that has a gust block cover. I have not had a wind issue since then.

There are available devices that pull the awning or toppers tight to eliminate the flapping. Otherwise just pull in the slides, my choice too.

If anyone knows the name of such a device we would appreciate it.
I was int he Keys last winter and oh my the wind. Some people stuffed beach balls on top of the slide and under the topper to prevent the flapping. Others ran a rope around the whole thing to stop the flapping.

Sections of pool noodle cut to fit work to keep the awnings from flapping. However, I pull the windward slideout in during high wind because I get tired of the coach rocking.

Sounds like the same as suggested above with a beach ball. Beach balls are pretty cheap.

I am in Northern California now and have the same issue...I bought a couple of those hard foam exercise rollers tied them together and stuffed them between the slide and the awning...helps with water and wind....not 100 percent but close!
