Windshield cracked

Has this happened to anyone? I have an ‘02 HOLIDAY RAMBLER Navigator and just replaced windshield in Coburg Oregon. Coming home and the windshield pinged and cracked. Nothing hit the windshield. So it’s cracked. Do you things RV GLASS would guarantee it?

What anyone here thinks is irrelevant. You will have to contact your vendor.

RV Glass is a good company. But with all the variables, I'm not sure they'll be willing to cover it. Best bet is to call and ask.

Did you drive in any terrain you don't usually drive that would cause the frame to flex?
That can break a windshield.

That's a stress crack, most likely caused by the windshield frame moving more than the glass could tolerate. The big question is whether that movement/stress was cause by a faulty front cap & windshield frame or poor workmanship during the replacement. I'm sorry to say that poor front cap design & construction was an all-too-common flaw back around 2002.

Was that the same problem as what caused the need for a new windshield? If so, that would suggest a structural problem in the motorhome rather than a defective installation.

If the crack started from the outer edge, likely there was a small undetected chip along the edge. Happens often if there's any extra stress due to flexing.
