Windshield rubber seal issue

Inspecting our new-to-us Thor Winsport, noticed water coming in front drivers side in recent rain. I inspected the rubber seal that goes on the windshield and body on the front, I noticed I could stick my finger inside the seal along the body and the window and could see stored water running out. First off should I be able to get my finger in there and should the entire rubber seal be replaced or can I use a sealant? I noticed the running lights up top could be recaulked but I'm guessing the rubber seal around the windshield is the culprit for the water coming inside and leaking down to the floor. Any suggestions?

What you are describing is often the sign of the windshield being out of place. It really should be removed and reset by a glass shop. They'll determine if it needs a new seal or the old one is still good. This happens sometimes by improper use of leveling jacks which can put a twist in the RV body and pop or crack the windshield. It could also happen parking or driving on very uneven surface, some RV's are more prone to this than others. You could also have cracked welds in the steel cage surrounding the body.

Have it checked, don't just fill gaps with caulk.

I had a 1999 Windsport and the same thing happen. I took it to a glass shop, Speedy Auto Glass here in New Brunswick and they removed both glass and reinstall,it was still in place when I sold it.

I spoke to sveral shops in town about removing my windshield and resealing it, none would do it for fear of the windshield breaking while removing it. They said, particularly with an older motorhome (2000 with a 2 piece window), it was difficult to get replacement glass. One shop would reseal the front windshield for $125 a side. haven't decided which avenue to pursue.
