Windshield Shades

Ok, I just spent the last few hours combing the past threads on shades for the windshield. MCD is by far one of the most recognized and used and likewise has the most problems reported.
Automotion seems to be the second most being recommended.
There are a few other companies mentioned but not sure they have the safety setup for a windshield shade.
I was all set to go with MCD but their customer service and failure record here on IRV2 has me second guessing my decision. Just recently read mention of some changes in MCD motors for 2018 coaches, I assume being built now.
What would be the recommendations today on powered windshield day night shades from the IRV2 crowd?
Also manual shades for cockpit sides.
Hoping to place an order for shades next week.

People don't usually come to forums like this to praise products. They come to complain or ask for help with some issue. For every 10 complaint/issue posts you'll get 1 "I'm satisfied" post. That's just the way forums work, so don't rule out MCD's yet.

That said, we've had our MCD motorized windshield (& manual cockpit) shades & they haven't given us a lick of trouble for 7 years. The driver's side manual did fall down this past summer, but I blame that on too short of screws holding it & the deplorable conditions of our interstate system. We didn't deal directly with MCD, other than to talk w/Peggy about them at an RV show. We measured for them ourselves, but we had our upgrades guy order & install them.

MCD's are expensive & there are others out there for less. I have no input on any others.

Yes, I agree Lori. MCD seems to have a majority of the installs not sure if it is true or not. With that they will also be the one to have more problems reported and as you mentioned it is rare to hear praises.
I have not ruled them out but want to make sure I am not making the wrong decision. Definitely not looking for the cheapest but I like value. Will gladly pay a little more for a better product.
Hearing about 7 years of no problems with MCD is what I like to hear.
