Windshield wiper problems

2010 Discovery 40X
Right windshield goes past it's stop on the windshield and into the other wiper causing a terrible mess of broken wipers. Also the intermittent setting does not work.
Will replacing the windshield wiper motor solve these issues? If so where can I purchase one?

Unlikely that the motor will fix this. Loose or worn linkage. Misaligned wiper is a more likely cause.

If you can, pull the wiper arm from the shaft and run the wipers. Watch the end of the shaft to determine whether it is following the correct arc to make the wiper sweep properly. If it is, then remount the wiper arm. If it continues to sweep improperly, then the wiper mechanism is likely worn out and needs replacing.
It is also possible that the entire wiper mechanism has become loose under the hood. That happened on our rig, even though the wiper still swept properly until the last mounting bolt finally loosened. Then the wiper went goofy. Replacing those three mounting bolts also cleared up a mystery rattle.

A wiper motor turns in one direction consistently, it has no effect on wiper blade length of travel, the transmission arms control length of travel.(between motor and wiper shaft through front cap) My crank came loose(stripped shaft splines) from motor shaft and everything stopped moving

Wiper parts sources:
Bus Parts and Truck Parts
https://midwestbusparts.com/index.ph...x&cPath=21_339
https://www.wiperparts.com/
Home=rometruckparts.com

These are like parts for MH wiper assemblies, motors, crank, transmission arms, pantograph arms. I looked up my parts by the nameplate numbers on each part or by measuring.
When ordering a wiper motor pay attention to the nameplate. The motors come in different torque strengths, mine the highest available.

For wiper blades, the lowest cost website is rockauto.com. Use the lookup by part name feature then by length. For instance I bought 4 28" wiper frames & blades from them for $4 each 4 years ago.

In my experience, both of those posts are correct. If the motor runs then it won't help to replace it.

Tiffin wiper breaks loose

2015 40QBH- a year ago our passenger wiper broke loose from the rotary gear driven from the wiper motor. I tightened the bolt that held it into the rotary gear. 6 months later it did the same. I bought a new mechanism from tiffin and replace it. 3 weeks ago the driver side wiper did the same. Same story: I bought a new mechanism am waiting g for it.. From now on I will check the torque on both mechanisms every 6 months. The second failure was in a terrible storm and I had to move closer to the vehicle in front of me to keep in tracking the road until I could find a safe place to stop and put the wiper assembly back in the proper spot and then re-torque the bolt. It puzzles me as to why both units failed. We have 50,000 miles on the coach, but a critical item like the wiper should not fail that soon---unless the builder did not touque properly during assembly.

Mine does this too. Only the left (driver's side) wiper blade. On high speed the left wiper will travel too far and hits the windshield molding that runs up the A-pillar side.

On low speed, it doesn't do this. I think the whole mechanism may be shifting/flexing slightly to the left from the wiper blade "momentum" on high speed. However I cant really get to the mounting plate without removing a bunch of stuff, so I haven't gotten into making this repair. I can see it and it looks normal/tight. But cant get my hands on it.

I can reposition the wiper blade so when parked it is angled downward some rather than sitting parallel to the bottom of windshield - that takes care of it hitting, but that looks bad, so I want to fix this correctly - some day.

28" wiper blades and shortening the short arm behind front facia fixed mine.

When my crank arm began slipping on the gearbox splined shaft in a rainstorm I was really glad I had treated the glass with Rain-X prior to the trip. Rain simply beaded up and blew off the glass at highway speed.
That crank arm was I think supposed to be torqued to 35lb/ft. I thought that was awfully high but did it anyway.
