Winegard help needed
Have a winegard roadtrip and it is only locating one dish satellite and the dish rep tells me I need a new satellite. Going to call Winegard Monday but thought I'd ask a couple questions. Has anyone had experience with this and if so, did the entire dish have to be replaced? If I have to get a new dish I'm going to go to get a traveler. If that is the case, is it a tough job to install, will I need to run new wires into the coach, is it a DIY. Tried to find a video online but not much luck.

Easy to install, no need to run new wires, just done mine less than 30 days ago.

Install is not real difficult. I did run new wires. You will need to run the controller wire unless you have a pre-wired travler cable.

Dish changed their signal a while back and basically made some older antennas into paperweights. Had one on the motorhome that was useless with DISH however it was still valid for Direct. I replaced it with the Roadtrip and sold the old one on eBay for a few $$$.

Before you go replacing the antenna, try this. Since your antenna is receiving at least one satellite I doubt the antenna is bad. I think your receiver is causing a problem.
1) Disconnect the coax from the sat in connection on the back of your receiver.
2) Run checkswitch , when done the receiver will say it received fewer satellites than previously do you want to save the results, select yes.
3) Reconnect the coax to the sat in connection.
4) Run checkswitch again, this time it should indicate that all three satellites were found and a SW64 switch was installed.
This should clear the problem.
Also the antenna on your 2014 coach was made after Winegard updated the firmware to receive 8PSK DISH transmissions.

Agree with IIIkrob, I bet that will fix it, it worked on my 2013 unit.

just make sure you have a clear view of all satellites. Trees can sometimes block the line of sight to a satellite even when you got a good signal yesterday from the same spot.

Yes, you will need to at least run a new control cable. The Roadtrip only has a power wire to it. The Trav'ler has a six conductor controller wire that goes from the antenna to the control box inside. Also, check the serial number on your dome for the manufacture date. The first six digits after the model number will be the month, day and year. Anything made prior to 2013 may not continue to lock onto the satellites.

I am the OP on this thread and wanted to complete the thread by owning up to the issue and the fact that is was 100% user error. I wanted to finish the thread in case someone has the same problem and they can find what finally fixed my issue.
All of the wires come into my coach in the rear, in the bedroom. When I went to install my new Dish receiver, I looked at the coax wires in the cabinet. I saw 2 traveler two wires, 2 traveler one wires and one wire labeled SAT. When I installed the receiver I hooked up the SAT wire, and got it working, but it only saw one satellite. After talking today with Winegard, and looking further at the bird nest of wires, I found a second coax labeled SAT. The nice lady kept saying she felt I didn't have it hooked to the correct coax wire but nothing worked. After I got off the phone, I looked further and found the second SAT coax, hooked that up, did the check switch test and finally, all 3 SATS were located and I am in business. I am sorry I wasted peoples time on this but maybe this thread will help someone in the future.
