Winegard to Tracvision
Hi,
I know this has been posted before but I'm just not getting the right help from Directv, tracvision, google or on here. This is what I have, a 2007 Fleetwood, purchased used, it came with a directv/winegard satellite, and tracvision inmotion, we had to get a new receiver from directv, it is set up and works fine on the directv/wingard satellite. I am trying to switch over to the tracvision inmotion satellite but not having any luck. Power switch is lite up, what are the next steps?

You may need a Tracvision receiver.
My Tracvision M10, sends power to the in-motion dome.

Everything was already set up with directv, the only thing I changed was the directv receiver because the one that was in there was not activated. Does the signal from the wingard and tracvision come thru the same input, or is there a switch somewhere to switch over to tracvision?

Was the original reciever labled Tracvision ?
I have to use the Tracvision, DirecTV reciever. A standard DirecTV one won't work.
Find the model number of the in-motion unit and call Tracvision. Calling DirecTV will make you crazy.

Would you know if there normally is a hard switch that needs to be changed between the wingard and tracvision, or are they wired together, and all that is needed is to program the receiver? Directv said my receiver should work after three calls.

My Winegard in motion on DIRECTV can only use the standard box. I just had to order one on the road because I let the smoke out of it. After an hour of arguing with them they sent it to the RV park we were at. Model number is D12-100 C-R

Some satellite antennas work only with specific models of receivers, but it won't be a "Tracvision" brand of receiver. Check with Trakvision for the receiver type yours requires, but you are probably OK on that. However, some of the older Trakvision domes are obsolete and none of them handle Direct's HD channels, which are on an incompatible satellite. I suspect the previous owner installed the Winegard Travler to get HD.
If you have two satellite antennas on the roof, there will be either multiple input cables or a switch. Hard to guess, since two antennas are not a standard thing and who knows what the installer did? It is even possible he disconnected the Trakvision and substituted the Winegard using the same cable, so you would have to physically switch the connections to make the in-motion work..

If the Winegard dish is a multi LNB dish (HD capable), you have to go into your Set Up menu on the Direct TV receiver and re-program it for a round single LNB dish to use the Tracvision.

Thanks,
I have talked to tracvision KVH, wingard and directv. In my coach I have a wingard trav'ler control box, I just power it on and the satellite goes in motion, finds the satellite and poof directv. I talked to wingard and they said that just start driving and after 7-9MPH the satellite will stow and the inmotion will pick up. Went for a drive and that did not happen. Does anyone know is there something at the wingard trav'ler box that is needed to switch to the inmotion dome?

??Winegard told you that? You have to stow the Traveler by pressing the power button on the box. It will display 'Stowing' then shut off when it is done. You can hear the Traveler stowing. It should always be stowed before you move.
There must be an A-B switch of some sort to switch the sat signal to your receiver from the Traveler vs. the Trac Vision. Once that is done, you do have to re-program your receiver since the Traveler is multi LNB vs the single LNB of the Trac Vision.

Yea figured that out, do you think the wingard trav'ler multi switch control box that powers on the satellite also switches to the inmotion dome?

The control box that came with my Traveler had no provisions for switching signals from one sat dish to another. It is designed to control the Traveler dish.
If your coach has both types of sat antenna, there must be some sort of A-B switch between the Direct TV receiver and those two dishes. That is assuming the previous owner used both. However, are you not sure he added the Traveler to get HD signals and just never removed the Trac Vision dome from the roof?
