Winnebago repair resin....
I need to reattach the front fiberglass panel in front of the genny to 4 supports that broke loose on the passenger side. A rolled up tarp fell off a semi, crossed a few lanes and into us. Happened quick, Birmingham AL...
What type of resin does Winnebago use, it looks like the same stuff for the hood in the rear of the pusher...
2003 Winnie Ultimate Freedom
Thx.....

My front generator cap has pieces of wood fiber glassed/epoxied onto the cap and then lag type bolts are used to attach it to the metal frame.
If yours is like that you can buy the woven fabric and epoxy and redo it. I use a two part epoxy, West Systems. They make a fast and slow cure. https://www.amazon.com/System-Epoxy-...A%3D%3D&sr=8-3
There are other sources, a large auto parts store or marine store may have it
It would be best to take the cap off and lay it on a flat surface. Precut all the pieces off cloth and get everything ready. Lay the cloth down and then paint/spread the epoxy on it. Several layers should do it. You can paint it afterwards.

It looks like I can unbolt the brackets and take it off. I don't have the same setup. Just resin holds the cap on. There's 6 legs that separated. Here's 4....

Since it was just held on by resin and you have perfect footprints to set the brackets back down into, you might want to get a packet of the larger JB WELD tubes and epoxy the brackets back with that. You don't really need a large portion of epoxy to do that job.

My MH is in a body shop now for front cap repair. That entire panel in front of the genset was smashed. I asked about the epoxy holding the metal bracket to the fiberglass and the guy said "no problem" putting it back the same way.
So, ask a fiberglass body shop what to use and how.
BTW, hang onto your front cap pieces for repair. The ONLY source for replacement caps/parts is salvage yards, and depends on when/where a Winnebago Ultimate sits for salvage. The molds for our MH caps were destroyed 18 years ago after W stopped making the Ultimate series in 2004.5.
The estimate for repairing my front cap was $34,000.

I believe what Winnebago uses is known in the business as "panel bond". A google search of the term yields a zillion, well actually 295,000,000 hits.
Lots of choices and information out there.

I just found out there's a 'glass shop in the area. Even tho I was told otherwise. And they work on RVs. Go figure....🙄 I'm going to rattle their cage too..... May bring the parts with so they know what I got.... Thanks...

I think peeps are getting the wrong impression. There's no cosmetic damage to the cap. What you're seeing is a bungy holding up the corner and I blotted out the license plate. No missing 'glass. Sorry for any confusion....

I know yours was knocked off, but this was a common issue in your year model. Not only did that resin let loose on the front hood, but it also let loose on the engine cover. Go to the Winnebago site and search for loose hood issues. There were some good fixes described by those having the issue.
