Winnebago roof radius

Checked the “roof radius” seal on my 2013 Winnebago Journey MH, and there are some cracking in the seal. Figure it’s better to repair it now, before it becomes a problem. Someone told me not to use anything with silicone, but recommended “Proflex RV. It is available at Amazon and some other places. Is this a good choice, or should I use something else?

I don't own a Winnie, but was researching the roof issue's, and what I saw recommended was polyurethane I think. It was poly something but for sure not silicone.

I went to the Winnie forum and looked it up and yes it's ProflexRV made by Geocel.

Proflex RV is a good choice for a fiberglass roof side-seam, but not the only possible choice. There are several quality products, e.g. Sikaflex 221, Dicor, etc.

The reason for avoiding pure silicone is simply that it cannot be over-coated if a future touch-up is needed. The old sealant would have to be removed before re-applying. You can, however, use a silicone-blend sealant, which is typically a mix of silicone and acrylic. If the silicone sealant says it is paintable, it is suitable for use on fiberglass & metal RV surfaces.

totte,
Well, again, many folks advise about what NOT to use on a Winne roof WITHOUT doing any research. Take 5 minutes of your time and watch this video. It's produced by Lichtsinn RV, which is about 2 minutes from the Winnebago RV factory in Forest City Iowa. They *kinda* know what they're talking about since they get all their info DIRECT from Winnebago. Pay attention to what is to used on a FULL BODY PAINTED COACH vs a NON full body painted coach.
