Workhorse Chassis leveling Jack's screeching noise
My Monaco LaPalma has Workhoarse W22 chassis and the leveling Jack's won't come down. When you hit the button to use them a loud screeching sound starts. In the past this would happen very infrequently, and they would work fine shortly afterwards. But this time it's not getting better. Maybe low hydraulic fluid? Hasn't been a problem in the 20 years we've had the rig. Any suggestions?

Have you ever lubricated them?
I spray mine with W40 a couple times a year.

On our last coach ('05 Vacationer), the leveling system did all kinds of weird things because of low reservoir levels. Found a small leak at a seam on the backside of the reservoir - had the crack braised and the system always worked as advertised. Also found out that a clean, lubricated strut is a happy strut.
WD is a Water Displacement, great for cleaning but you can't go wrong with lubing the struts/seals with the fluid the system was designed to operate on.
On the Vacationer, the Reservoir and pump are located just fwd of the genset, same panel.

Location can vary by, year and floor plan ; can you have someone operate the control and track down the pump by the noise it's making ?
Pump, fluid distribution manifold with solenoids and reservoir are all attached.
Have you any idea what brand of leveling system is on your coach ? HWH ? Power Gear ?

I don't know what jacks Monaco used on the LaPalma, but they could be electric jacks, not hydraulic. You need to look underneath and see if they have hydraulic hoses connected to them.
If they're electric, you could have a 12-volt power issue, low batteries. Try the jacks with the engine running.

I have had nothing but trouble with my Atwood Level Leg electric jacks on my 2006 Newmar Ventana. In fact Lippert Industries totally replaced all 4 jacks just after they acquired Atwood. Since that time though, there aren’t any replacement parts available anywhere. Now some of my electric jacks are having an issue with the controller module. Intermittent, some work, or they don’t work at all. Determined the jacks were getting electric current when tested, so the controller must not be sending the correct message to the individual jacks. Had an electrical genius friend of mine research why and he came up with a possible solution. Replace the controller with a similar product that does the same job. I did (actually he did the work) and amazingly my jacks now work. Check out “Gama Electronics, product # RF340-4PR-ASL”. Less than $200 and the solution to a very long problem. So if you have power to your jacks that only work sometimes, it’s probably the brain (the controller) that is the problem.

The Jack's are Power Gear and I found the pump and reservoir in the genset as suggested. Thanks to everyone who responded. Really helps!
