Thanks for the reply docj, We are class A shopping currently but a 5K regular service bill would be out of the question.

My MH takes 36 quarts of oil so that is the single largest item. Add to that oil and fuel filters and an air filter cartridge (every year or two). Additionally, every couple of years I replace the air dryer desiccant. Lastly, there are zerks on the chassis that need to be lubed.

i didn't include the generator since it's not a DP thing. Genny service is pretty much the same for all of them.

Advice

I have a 1995 Winnebago Luxor with the 300 HP single turbo 8.3 rated 850 torque. This coach had
134 k when I bought it in 2017 and being A Charter Boat owner for the last 40 years this is one of the finest Diesel engines ever built with proper maintenance a lot of TLC don’t worry about your motor, the only problem I have is it’s a really tough time To remove the Queen size mattress and the hatch to inspect my great motor. As I have Run Cat, Volvo, Detroit’s and they are all good engines but they are not the Reliability of that Cummins

Whoa Nelly....You just dissed my 1988 "Lucy" Winnebago..27 RQ...140,000 miles, 40-50# Oil pressure..Trans check, no metal at all in my last 14 yrs of ownership...I have all the paperwork from the 2 previous owners..
Gas rigs are swell if taken care of for sure!..And less $$...I could go on about the excellent quality of woodwork..No pressed cardboard..
Oh Well,
Take care and be safe!
I hope we all are able to enjoy the coming summer months!..

This spring was my first trip to Cummins.

I bought last August and had no service records. The thing sounded fine, smelled fine, drove and handled fine, stopped fine. It had no leaks. Dealer added new Toyos, changed filters and fluids.

I asked Cummins to change fluids and filters again. I also asked them to check everything:
Coolant, shocks, air bags, steering bracket, bearing leaks, brakes, hydraulic fluid, etc. And to also do a complete generator service.
Everything checked out fine except for some tie rod bushings and a major crack in the exhaust manifold.

Without the manifold replacement (which included an unbelievable amount of labor) the total charge was going to be $1800.
The manifold pushed the total over $4000.

Expensive insurance, but if anyone was going to back out those 20 year old bolts and damage the engine, I wanted it to be the engine guys.

So, all in all, not bad for 20 years old.

I had one service from Cummins before I learned that they are the most expensive source available. But they will get the desired result.

1. My exhaust manifold leak cost $1,500 in a truck shop with two "frozen" bolts.

2. My 2006 oil leak was estimated at $2,000 repair by Cummins. I fixed it with Permatex Leak Sealer for $6. Still good after @70,000 miles.

I had guidance from this forum on both the above repairs before executing them.

Well we just returned from our first trip with the Holiday Rambler. It was about 500 miles pulling a 10k lbs trailer, and 4 days dry camping. Overall it went pretty well. The dealership installed a new rear AC unit as well as serviced the generator and a few other items. Everything seemed to work as it should. The only problem we had was our engine temps were hard to keep down while pulling the big trailer. There was more power to use but we had to let off because of the temps. This is disappointing, but we are going to explore upgrades to help with the cooling. (Cleaning the radiator and flushing the coolant with be first)

Coming from a V10 gasser I was blown away by the ride, handling and comfort of the DP. Can’t wait for the next trip. Thanks again for all the advice!

The trailing arms on the RR8R chassis did not have the problems, it is the trailing arms on the RR4R chassis.
