While insurance would be the show stopper I would not allow anyone including my family to use any machine without proper instruction. I see too many accidents with boats and snowmobiles because people have not had the correct training prior to using the machine. I had a friend ask to use my chain saw one day, in my minds eye I saw a great potential for disaster, his answer and yours should be no, if for nothing more than to keep your friends safe, and as stated before still a friend!!

No way........but there are also many reasons beyond whether they could drive a big rig. That would be the biggest, but as we all know, there is a lot to learn/know about using the coach from knowing all the electrical, knowing how to properly dump and maintain your tanks, etc........

I let my sister borrow mine. I drove it to the campground,set everything up .And left with the key.Went back two weeks later and drove it home.

I love my kids and probably spoil them. Still they know, not to even ask to use dad's motorhome. If I won't let my kids borrow it, I sure as hell won't let anyone else. Your insurance is higher when you buy your first motorhome. It drops pretty quick after the first couple of years, not only because the motorhome goes down in value, but because the ins. co. knows you have learned to drive the big boy. Use as a guest house, no problem. Drive off in it. Forget it.

This is kinda what I was thinking of. Have it spotted on the site of their choice professionally, with the agreement it's not to be moved under any circumstances. Use whatever excuse for that you like. Otherwise, no way. I wouldn't consider it for a moment.

I called Progressive to see if I would be responsible if another driver of my RV hurt someone..If hurt seriously, the insurance company would pay my liability coverage, but anything above that would be my responsibility...This could be very costly...So you are not being mean, in my opinion, to not loan out your RV....

I'd say no. I have experience and even I (dare I admit it) can make an OOOPS happen myself.
I had an experience pre-MH where we borrowed a friends tent trailer for holidays. Anything that could go wrong with it, did. It was like everything I touched broke. Every morning I got up and looked outside to see if a cloud of locusts was coming LOL. I felt like setting it on fire and offering to pay their deductible.
In the end, I fixed everything that broke or fell apart and gave it back to them and thanked them for the use. Never told them anything.
The point I'm making is "If anything can go wrong, it will when you borrow or lend something. Better off to just say I'm sorry but no.

I have an older unit that a friend used to borrow every year to take to the Carlisle spring swap meet. Known this guy for 20+ years and we work on everything that both of us have together. If I broke it he would be there elbows deep in it with me fixing it, if he broke it the same would apply.
With that being said, a few days after he borrowed it the last time I came home at lunchtime and found the side awning unspooled and ripped in half. It wasnt perfect to start off with and maybe he did or didnt do anything wrong but I wasnt happy with the potential that it could have been something he had done.
I still would have let him borrow it if he asked again but you have to be prepared that something less than favorable could happen. When he had left the motorhome in my driveway it was fine. I had seen it being in one piece.
At least it didnt decide to pop out on him while he was going down the road!

P.s. Only one other very good friend I would allow to borrow it who has never asked. The answer to everyone else is no.
