My current Xantrex RS/3000 needs replacing. I am at an RV Rally were a vendor has a new Xantrex Freedom SW3012. Has anyone replaced this inverter without upgrading to the new System Control Panel SCP? Is there any possibility that my old SCP will work with the new inverter. The display of the old one looks just like the new model, so I'm just wondering.

You need the control panel, and the phone cord adapter. Also I had to flip one end of the phone cord, the old one was not a straight through
. The adapter is cheap, hopefully you have a friend with a phone cabling tool to crimp the new end.
FWIW I found some Xantrex repair shops vis the Xantrex website that still have repair parts for our obsolete RS models. They are all near large bodies of water as larger boats use them more than the RV world.
The problem is shipping-both ways will be expensive due to weight.
