Xantrex RS2000 question

I have a new to me coach which has a Xantrex RS2000 inverter/charger. it seems to work fine, but when plugged in and set to charge it "hums" quite loud. any ideas why? it seems to charge and invert fine and doesn't really get hot, and the fan is not turning on, just wonder if I should worry about it?

thanks

Not unusual for inverter/chargers to hum. Only be concerned if it stops humming.

As with any electronic equipment that has a transformer, the magnetic field will cause the laminations to vibrate(hum). They vary in the noise level. Some cannot be heard and others may drive one nuts.

A mild hum is pretty normal. I would check the bolts or screws it’s mounted with, the panel it’s mounted too or anything near by that also seems to vibrate or hum. Sometimes a very slight hum can be amplified by loose mounting, something touching it or just it’s exact position.

I replaced an ATS in my last coach and it sounded real loud. I loosened the mounting screws, pushed it hard to one side, tightened them back down an the hum was almost gone. Just an acoustic vibration.

Start with something simple like that. If nothing else, see if it changes.
