Yikes...serious stuff now !!

Hello again my RV friends..
" Houston we have a problem "
As you can see we are in a bit of a pickle. Once again, not knowing the ins-and-outs of this machine. Disaster awaits. LOL not knowing what the square tubing was open on the other side of the motorhome an axe got put in there and then the slide got slid in and out. The slide them pushed the axe head against the baggage door on the other side putting a small hole in the baggage compartment door on the opposite side of the motorhome . Short story, is this rod got bent in this process not looking good.
As you can see we are in serious need of all kinds of help and advice. All help and advice you have for us would be greatly appreciated
Thanks again guys,
Hugs
Jo

Its the AC cord extension for the AC receptacles in the slide. Just disconnect from all power while you work on it. The rod should be straight in line with the slide out support, so the coil cord can expand/retract with the slide. If you don't want to deal with it, just disconnect it from where it attaches to the non movable part of your MH, likley a junction box under the slide. Of course you will not have power to your 110v receptacles in your slide.

Not knowing the brand and model, I would guess that this is a way the manufacturer supplied power (looks like 12V but could be 120V) to the slide. The metal rod should be straight and the coiled wire expands and contacts as the slide goes in and out. Do you have lights and outlet power on the slide?

On the side shot you can faintly see a similar coiled wire around a rod that looks like it is not bent.

A picture from the bottom would help also, look for a place for the rod to go into and the place where the wire connects.

Hi All
Thanks for coming to my rescue. So far things are going along pretty good. Manage to get the rod from inside the coil. It is of course bent in several places. DH is going straighten the rod. Worst part is it's bent right at the threads. We are of course, afraid it might break right there. Once again thanking you for your quick reply and as usual great support. Greatly appreciated. Will keep you posted LOL . Thank you much !!!

Hi again...
Just thought I would drop you a quick note letting you know crisis has been averted.... LOL. Dear hubby managed to remove the rod, straighten it and reinstall. Everything looks as good as new. Whew..that was scary.
When you are as green as we are, with a motorhome, a sight like that rod all bent up, sticking out the bottom of the slide this morning was very scary.
Once again, thank you all so very much for your advice and replies to my plea for help. Take care..you guys really do " rock "...
Hugs

Watch out for a short in that coiled cord; It has 110v AC passing thru it when you are plugged in to shore power. If the cord was pinched anywhere along its length (like the photo where it looks like it was pinched in the basement door) you would be best to strip the cord back in that area and look for damaged wire. No pinches-no worries.
