If you ever have to jump start dead batteries it is much easier to get at them with it nosed up to the fence. At least on mine and many others I have seen.

I read through all the posts and was ready with my response and then read "slickest1". I had the same thought, most DP's have the starting batteries near the engine compartment, so shorter distance for jumper cables. The ladder against the fence is another good point.

Lastly, I think the Dutch Star and American Revolution might be teasing you and showing you what 450HP looks like!

4x4van, There’s no restriction by the lot on the way you park but protesting my arrival has merit!
Wnytaxman, Ed you sound way too much like me... If wrapping it in cellophane wrap is good, wrapping it in cellophane wrap and a freezer bag is even better! I hate to park my baby outside. My plan was to get the coach in near June and I’m getting it near April so I had no options.
MisterT, My coach is a 41 ft 2018 Sports Coach 407 and I don’t care how others park other than to know why? My feeling is that most diesel pusher owners do things with a purpose and the only purpose I could think of was the southern exposure. I’m just checking in on the masters of the midway. It’s like the time honored question “what’s the difference between a turkey”?
Dan-nickie, Dan, the parking area has nothing to do with “easier” because there’s all kinds of room and no spotter would be needed. Except for maybe “hey, was that a mini van”?
Steve Ownby, Steve, I was thinking of that too for lack of anything else coming to mind? I guess I thought with the night shade down how much difference would it make?
DGBPokes, Sun does a job on all those things you mentioned for sure. My hope is my coach will not sit around long enough to be bothered.
BFlinn181, Bob, fence jumping would be very tough thing to do because its on a steep hill that’s a good 10’ and the fence is another 8 so it would be a tough thing to do. And the closest the rear of the coach can get to the fence is maybe 6 feet. So using the coach ladder to get into the campground is pretty much out of the question. It would be a very difficult area to break into and the full time guard certainly helps.
RobbieH, and Mr D, I didn’t know about the active air system or the HWH system. But I do feel a lot better Mr D when you say you’ve parked outside and on gravel for 30 years.
Old-Biscuit, Herd animals you say! like lemmings perhaps? Wow...
vsheetz, Vince, “It’s a earth rotation thing, and in mitigation of a gravity failure. (-:” Hey Vince, if they say “hey Harry, you park next to Vince”! I’ve got news for em, I ani’t doin it!!!
slickest1, Dennis, That’s a good point when you said “If you have to jump start dead batteries it is much easier to get at them with it nosed up to the fence.”
Dutch Star Don, Don, You just couldn’t let it go without the 450HP comment could you? That was pretty cold pushing us around with your horse power. Next it would be kicking sand on us at the beach right? OK, alright I get it! Although I should point out that you require 4 additional tires to control your bulbous-ness! bulbous-ness, I love that! I can see Mary nodding her head!

I’d like to say thanks for all the good information but I didn’t get any... Hey-Whoa-lookout!

You guys are the best,

Harry

I tend to agree with Old-Biscuit (this time anyway) Most likely the 1st one there parked nose in and the rest followed suit. The pack animals like order.

Stayed Lake Greenwod one Christmas. 200+ spaces. only 4 unrelated RV's and we parked in 4 adjoining sites. (figured maybe the 1st guy knew something - being 12 miles out in the woods-- may have been a woosie factor too)

Harry, my first thought was "diesel pusher = rear engine". Much easier for service truck to get at engine if nosed in.

To my right is a Tiffin Allegro Red and a American Revolution. To my left is a Newmar Dutch Star and a Winnebago Journey (none of them have jacks down). All have one thing in common, they are all parked front facing south towards a permanent chain link fence. The parking area is huge with all kinds of room to back in if desired. Is there a reason you know of that all four coaches would have the front of their coaches facing south?
I also noticed the Allegro is way down in back with the exhaust no more than a couple inches from the ground. Maybe an airbag issue?

No disrespect indented...but unless your motorhome is the Allegro that's "way down in back with the exhaust no more than a couple inches from the ground" don't worry about it.
I have no doubt that your motorhome will give you plenty enough to worry about... (without worrying about any others).

BTW, it sounds like you found an ideal storage lot.

Hey Woodchopper, sorry for my poor communications skills. I did not want to communicate worry, just curiosity! Four diesel pushers all parked the same way when you could have parked diagonally if you chose to begged the question. Is there a reason for it?

Anyway, sorry I worried you and I'm glad the Alegro is fine!

Another question please. If you're overnighting somewhere do you empty your air tanks? Or is that something you do when you're staying awhile? I know at Walmart you're not to put your jacks down. But do you drop your air?

Most parking lots are pretty level so I have never found the need to dump air for an overnight. I have air leveling but really the same applies.

When you say "empty your air tanks" are you talking about the dump valve usually incorporated in the leveling system control panel or pulling the lanyards that purge the air tanks to remove accumulated moisture?

For an overnight stop in a Walmart, I don't dump air or purge the tanks. I park, remove the key from the Toad and lock it, and relax after a stroll through the Walmart to introduce myself and perhaps purchase something.

Hi Bob, I must admit I didn't know about the "purge the air tanks of water"! It seems like I did read of it somewhere but I think it was in association with getting under the coach to perform?

Maybe I'm thinking about the jacks? Suffice it to say I have a lot to learn and thank the Good Lord for you guys. I'm often amazed at what I learn by your answers. Had I not asked the question incorrectly as I did, I would not of known about the purging the air tanks!

My thanks to all of you!

In arid Wyoming it's not necessary to purge the tanks as frequently as someone in a Gulf state or other humid areas. Often the drain valves at the bottom of the tanks have lanyards leading to a more convenient and safer place where you can pull the lanyards and drain the air/moisture from the tanks. Look in wheel wells, or in my case, they're accessed in the LP gas compartment. A look underneath at the air tanks can give a good hint as to which way the lanyards go.

If you notice more than just a few drops of moisture when purging, it's an indication that the air dryer/filter (desiccator) is in need of service.

I know you're just having some fun, but if you didn't really know, us "taggers" only have a single tire on the tag axle... that is unless you're driving the old Greyhound double decker (Google PD-4501).

Hi Dewey, and yes to just having fun! I did know about the two tires on the Tag but didn't know there was a time they had four. Could you raise the tag at that time?
