Zep Wet Look. How To?

I am going use Zep Wet Look. I already bought it so Please don't tell me to buy something else... Thanks
How do I prep? I am only going to use it on my graphics. soap (Bar Keepers Friend) and water? Use TSP? Before applying?
Also when applying do I use the swirl method or does it have to be in a straight line?
Thanks :LeeB
My fiberglass will be fine after I remove the Oxidization.

I use all the ingredients that you mentioned as a preclean. When you apply the Zep, Use a WHITE cloth to apply the Zep. Only wipe in one direction (up or down). It will take 4 to 5 coats before the "streaking" is gone. Search on my name. I believe I posted an extensive cleaning and waxing tutorial. The last time I used Zep, it lasted for about 4 to 5 years.

The bars keeper super cleaned my white curry cabin boat with lots of rough non-skid on top. Totally Awesome cleaner will clean off some ugly exterior scuzz as well.

On all my applications I wipe down the clean surface with a red scotch bright and then I use TSP for the final prep. Most all coating require a dull surface for proper application. After the TSP wipe down, don't just hose off. Use a clean cloth and hose to get the TSP off.
I use a blue lint free cloth for application. Soak the cloth and then wring out all you can and apply a very thin coat, 4 or 5 times.
It's all in the prep.

The best applicator I've found for applying ZEP or like product I made myself. Took a piece of 2 x 4" wood about 7" long, then got some sponge material and set it on one side of the 2 x 4 and wrapped it with a synthetic chamois stapling the chamois around the sides of the 2 x 4 trimming off the excess. Make a few just in case you need another one if the one you use dries up on you. Put the ZEP in a spray bottle and spray it on the dampened applicator and it puts down a nice light smooth coat without any streaks. Wash the applicator well with water as soon as you are done or it will harden on you. If you just apply it with a cloth you will get streaks and runs like crazy.

Hope this helps, and Merry Christmas!

I went a little different route. The "Dollar Tree" store has sponge mops for a dollar. I bought an armful of them. The sponges detach easily from the mop head I found so I glued each one securely before I started. They also have a wringer I found useless and in the way so I cut those off with a razor knife. Did my whole 38 footer with them. When the sponge started getting ragged I just grabbed another. My only issue was you have to wipe the Zep on more slowly with sponges or you get tiny bubbles. They pop but don't leave a surface as slick as what you are after. Slow and steady works fine.

Don't use black streak remover on Zep. It removes the streak AND the Zep under it. Oops.

When I did our 97 Winny, I applied it by hand with a small piece (6*6) of terry towel.
It took 4 coats but was worth it.
Prep is a must, anything you don’t remove will be sealed and it will be shiny when your done.
Green 3m scrubby and TSB then a good wash and dry.

I've wondered if a paint pad would work for applying Zep. Anyone ever tried one?

That looks like a pot scrubber or Scotchbrite. I would say definitely not. Before I went with the heckuva lot easier long handle sponges. I started out being all picky and careful by hand wiping with a fresh microfiber cloth. Wasn't long before I got the idea it was going to take forever to cover the real estate I have plus some bits are very hard to reach even with a stepladder.

The finest sponges you can find ,like some mops and maybe wooden handle painting sponges or sponge paint pads as you want to just do the graphics and will need to free hand lines and swoops. I'm not sure the bristle paint pads will hold much , as most paint is very thick in comparison but might make great way to smooth it out.

All good info. I did 1990 Georgie Boy (in 1997) with great results.. I used a barmop, (large dish cloth) wrung out, no drips. Only add is wear gloves or you will have shiny finger nails forever..

I have used Zep for about 8 years on the white (gelcoat that had been clearcoated) sections of our rig

I use old tee shirts for wax application. The tee shirts have no pattern in the fabric and spread the Zep smoothly.

Micro fiber and other cloths left patterns in the Zep for me.
