An odd problem with vehicle registration

In my state (Oregon) the DMV charges by the foot for registration of RVs. The out of state title I took into them had it down as a 24' vehicle. The VIN also has the numbers 24 in juxtaposition, seemingly validating the title, or vice versa.

It's a Falcon 190, 19', and I insisted it was 19'. The DMV bureaucrat did the odd thing - she got a tape measure and we walked out to it. 19'. She went in and scratched out 24', charged me for 19' and we were done.

Odd, though, that the previous title would have it as a 24' vehicle.

The employee undid about 1000 years of bureaucrat bashing, she used her head to achieve a reasonable result. I tip my hat to this very sensible person.

You should call her supervisor and reccomend her for a raise. On second thought, maybe not. She would probably get fired for leaving her station.

Hey Bowser! Don't report her cos she'll get fired for being sensible. It makes the other DMV employees look bad! You got me curious. I'm not sure how Washington calculates the cost. I still have my Falcon 190, but I also have a 41' DP. Both licenses are up in June. Yikes!

Years ago, I was stationed in NC, bought a new van and registered it in Florida. (Home of Record) I called FL DMV and was charged extra $10 for not registering within 10? days. My tags took almost a month to get mailed back and in the envelope with the registration was a $10 check from Florida, and "Sorry we took so long, our fault, only fair to refund your penalty for late filing" (I think the registration fee was $25)
