B/B+ Parking and Campgrounds

I have been considering purchasing a PW Plateau because of the maneuverability and ability to park in most regular parking spaces. I also like the compactness of it, however, lately I have been also drawn to the LTV Unity TB model, the layouts and extra space is nice but I'm not sure about the additional width of the coach. My question is how easy is the LTV Unity to park, especially at attractions or within a city. I'm planning on full-timing for at least a year and want to be able to maneuver to visit as many places as possible as easy as possible.

Also, when staying multiple nights at a campground what does everyone do to insure know one takes your spot when you leave for a day of sightseeing?

My Pleasure Way Excel TS measures 20'-4" and after traveling all over the USA for 70,000 miles I've decided that it's length is the best thing about as I can park anywhere we go. As much as I like some of the new designs etc I wouldn't want to lose that ability to park anywhere but a Parking Structure/Garage. If there is a doubt as to " saving" your Campsite while gone for the day, we leave our 2 folding chairs in the site. We don't buy expensive chairs so we don't worry about theft but we've never had one problem.

I had the same dilemma when staying at National Park campgrounds. We drive our 22ft Class A around to all the sights and might leave a set of chairs but usually nothing at the CG. We ended up using the fold out reflective traffic triangles ( http://amzn.to/2ilOSMI ) to mark the CG space and to also mark the MH if it was a parallel space at the edge of a road. Technically the only thing you should need is the tag on the site number but I've 'heard' of people taking sites because they thought people had left early.

Unfortunately a hang tag is often not enough. After an unpleasant interaction with a group that hijacked my space, where we had our tag properly displayed, I bought a large orange collapsible cone. We have had no problems since.

As a camp host I recommended leaving something personal in a space at a forest service camp ground. I was so surprised at how many people would tell me I'm nuts. Campsites hijacked.

Warning triangles are good to have for roadside emergencies anyway. That's a good use for them

Some of the parks here have a block of wood with "OCCUPIED" or "RESERVED" that you leave on the table. I imagine you could easily buy or make an official looking sign. An orange traffic cone looks pretty official, too

Thanks for all the great responses and ideas. I was thinking of maybe getting a frame like realtors use for "for sale" signs and creating a sign saying the spot is taken.

Anybody ever thought of locking the electrical panel before they left for the day in addition to leaving their signs/chairs etc?

When we go out and about if it will be all day and arriving back late, we use a long cable lock and weave them through camp chairs that we leave in the site, securing them to the picnic table. It's obvious that the site is in use and no worries about the chairs disappearing.

That's not a bad idea either...if the site has electrical hook-up.

I like the orange traffic cone. Looks very official, and might keep someone from parking there, getting set up, then trying to hook up electric.

I made a simple wood sign that says "Gone Sight Seeing, Back Soon" with our first names on it. I place this in the middle of the access drive of our site. BUT, locking the electrical box when available is a super idea.... thanks

We use a collapsable orange traffic cone which has worked so far for several years.
