Cambria Generator turns off when ignition is off

The generator works as it should but it will not work unless the ignition is off. Any ideas what I am doing wrong or is something broken? Thanks 2005 Itasca Cambris

The headline says generator turns off when ignition is OFF, but the body of the message says it won't work UNLESS ignition is OFF. I assume the later is what you mean. Does the generator throw any diagnostic codes (flashing light on the start switch) when it shuts down? Start there, if so. Assuming you have a propane generator, is it possible the propane shut-off switch is the culprit? I suppose someone might have wired it to shut the propane while engine is on, although that would be inconvenient. You can rule that out if the fridge or water heater works on LP while the ignition is on. Good luck!

House batteries are dead, have a bad cable connection or switched off.

Key on connects start battery to the house battery.
