My son is getting married in October so I figured what better wedding present that a old Class B that he can use with his new wife. After all, he's been vacationing in motorhomes since he was 6 years old.

After getting sticker shock at how well the Chinook's and Rialta's retain their value, I saw a few listings on Craig's list for a 2000 Chinook Diesel for about $4k. Saw another 1999 Chinook gasser for $3200.

Emailed both listings (using a rarely used Gmail account I have) and got an individual reply for both listings from the same 'Donna Mills'. Same story for both - run great, can't sell at blue book, dropped price, recently divorced. Never answered my questions about interior pics, where is the MH located, etc. Upon further googling, saw that this same ad is posted all over the country on Craigs List.

So beware that if you see these ads that it could very well be a scam and don't send ANY money or give out any personal information.

PS - Based on the fact that most Chinooks and Rialta's are going for about $30k, my son will get a nice check for his wedding present (for much less than $30k)! Unless you know of someone legitimate who is selling one for rock bottom pricing...

Did you notify Craig's list? If not please do so.

Frankly.. I'd like to see the reply e-mail forwarded to someone who knows how to break it down, Envelope and all. Many of these scammers are not bright enough to hide their true IP address from someone who knows how to break it down... (That means someone better at it than I am by the way). Such folks work for the Police.

I especially like the ones that suggest that a MH that is located 1000's of miles away will be shipped at the owners expense for you to evaluate and decide whether you want to buy. But of course some Bill of Lading fees are required to be paid first, or proof of ability to buy by providing bank information.

i have traced ips on a lot of bogus Cl posts and found most were in Ukraine or therw abouts,

theres a Chinook on Ebay now that need some work,looks like a good project at a decent price, which I would buy if I was still physically able to do the repairs, and updates.
Its only 7500 with no bids yet.Maybe a buy for someone here,,,?

Craigslist has so many scammers, anything that looks good is probably fake,,unfortunately. butTry Searchtempest, for quick Craigslist searching.

Always email through the Craigslist program. That way your real email stays out of their hands. They usually respond and ask for your real email so they can send more pictures etc. After awhile I got good at spotting scams and just click on the prohibited link and they don't come back up in my searches.
