Hi,
I usually like to do a short haul weekend trip at the beginning of the season to ensure everything is working OK.
I went to a Provincial Park that is 1.5 hours drive east of Toronto on the shores of Lake Ontario. Very scenic and natural setting ... hard to believe I was setup next to Lake Ontario listening to the waves (and rain) as I fell asleep. Living in Toronto, Lake Ontario's shoreline is totally different compared to this Park (Presqu'ile).
Since the weather wasn't co-operating (rainy & below seasonal temps), they only had 4 campgrounds open - I had one campground all to myself the first night and shared it with a trailer on the 2nd night.
Everything was OK on the RV too so was able to spend time checking out the park, rather than doing impromptu repairs.
The park has two drawbacks though ... it now has the tick that carries Lyme disease and, once you get inland a bit from the shores of Lake Ontario, it has a lot of swampy areas which means ... Mosquitoes, and a lot of them, in the warmer weather.
Cheers,
Steve
