My family and I have been camping with our dogs for years. First two dogs, then three, and the last two years four! Two collies, a lab and a lab mix. They keep you busy, and you must be prepared for the fur and the dirt they bring into the unit. When camping with shore power, we can leave them for a few hours at a time with the AC on and they do just fine. We do not do this when we have any doubt about keeping the RV cool enough. We also leave the radio on for them. This seems to keep them calm and distracts them from any outside noises that could make them bark. The most important thing is to exercise them and tire them out before you leave them alone so that you are pretty sure they will sleep, and always make sure they have water available. We also carry an X-pen with us and set that up on our porch rug. It's a convenient place for them to hang out with us in camp, and they like being outside but not tied up. The rug helps keep them clean (otherwise, they just LOVE to crawl under the RV and lay in the shady dirt!) Our dogs love being on the road with us and exploring new places. Traveling with them is definitely worth the work.
