Trail-Lite B-Plus --House battery not being charged by alternator

I recently bought a 2003 R-Vision Trail-Lite B-Plus motorhome.

A friend tested the house battery (new as of August). He found that, with the engine running, the house battery wasn't being charged by the alternator after the engine battery was fully charged.

The local RV shop told my friend that this is the norm for this motorhome. They said that the house battery is only charged when the MH is plugged in or the generator is running.

Does anyone know whether this is true for this specific MH?

Thank you for your help.

I don't know if its true, but if it is, here are 2 simple devices to make it do it.

It only involves connecting 3 of the wires.

That does not sounds normal. *Most* RVs have some sort of battery controller/isolator/solenoid that ties the house batteries into the charging system when the engine in running, and then disconnects the house batteries from the coach batteries when the engine is off.

Could be as simple as a $60 100% duty cycle solenoid.

Thanks. You are correct. The coach has 2 isolators and a control box that were not working. Rather than fix them, another shop installed a continuous solenoid. Problem fixed.

Thanks again everyone for the help.
