You always need a good multimeter.

Totally agree, get yourself a multimeter and learn how to use. And get yourself an EMS and not just a surge protector. An EMS will manage all of the odd electrical screwups that are out there and protect your coach.

I ALWAYS test the petalstool with my Multimeter before I plug in. Good piece of equipment to have.
