1998 freightliner xc air dryer filter part #

My air dryer filter is due for service and the local freightliner shop is telling me that the filter is $190.00, :big_eek
i think that is a little high for a spin on filter don't you think.
Does anyone know if fleetguard of another manufacturer has a filter that i can purchase that fits my chassis without breaking the bank.
It is a 1998 allegro bus, XC chassis.

Thanks
Ken

$190.00 may be a good price! Why?......last August I had a lot of routine maintenance done at an "authorized" CAT dealer, including servicing my Air Dryer. They charged me $215.29 for a cartridge filter kit....plus labor at $175.00 an hour for installing it and testing the compressed air system! Total cost for that part of the service was $304.29.

WOW, just replaced mine after buying the 2 filter kit (spin on and coalescent) with pressure relief valve for approx $110 but, they need to make a profit Do a search on your model number. Not that hard to replace either. Just make sure your air tanks are drained.

My last air dryer service was $230 at Freightliner factory service in Gafney. That included an hour of labor. But it's not exactly a "spin on" and it isn't a "filter" either. Mine has the Haldex Pure Air Plus system and it used dessicant kit DQ6050

I recently paid about $140 for the kit at my local Freightliner shop. Did the work myself and it was very easy. Just make sure you buy a large strap wrench.

Bought mine at AutoZone. It was a dual pack with a small one and a large one.

Mine is a Pure Air Plus, which should be changed every 18 months. Yours is probably a different (newer) model with a different service requirement.
