Smile 2006 XC chassis 400hp cummins heating problem

I have a 2006 Vectra on a XC chassis with a cummins 400hp engine. Have a overheating problem when climbing grades in the mountains. I have had this problem since it was new. I down shift inorder to keep the rpms close to 2K, but if the grade is long I will have to pull off to cool down. Does anyone else have this problem?

I had an Allegro Bus 06 and YES. It always over heated. Traded it in on an 08Bus and Spartan Chassis and no problems.
They do have answers to your problem though. They can check your fan speed and turn it up by adjusting the hyd flow. Is this the radiator clean on the outside and between the oil coolers and AC unit? they do run hot and the light may come on but the real temperatur is still in "limits"
Good Luck

There was a recall in 2006 that changed the hydraulic oil to 15W40 and changed the oil cooler out for an heavier duty model. The 15W40 builds up greater pressure and blows out the original cooler. I have not had any further problems since that change.

I believe I have the same set up on my 2007 Itasca Ellipse and once I learned to downshift and keep the revs up... as you are already doing... I've had no problem.
