Is this rare problem limited to Cat do are Cummings motors also affected?

My 2017 Jeep tow vehicle purchased new had the cluster dim so bad it had to be replaced under warranty. The Jeep dealer had me leave the Jeep with them, gave me a loaner under warranty, and sent the cluster back to the factory. Factory sent the dealer a new cluster with the odo set to the mileage of the old one transferred to the new one. It took a week. The dealer said I could not drive my vehicle until the replacement was completed and they must send the old cluster back to the factory for replacement and transfer of the mileage to the new one hence the need for a loaner.

Mine that did it was a 2016 with Cummins. Its a Freightliner issue, nothing to do with the engine.

I've obviously not done any scientific poll based research on this issue, but I can tell you that in considerable time spent looking up instances where this has happened, each and every case has involved a Freightliner chassis.

Assuming that is a valid representation of what is actually happening out there, it would seem in a nutshell that Freightliner has caused this issue due to some sort of engineering fault, which results in owners through no fault of their own losing either actual or perceived value on their investment.

When Freightliner, who is OBVIOUSLY aware of the situation, refuses to either acknowledge or rectify the situation, they are dumping the problem square in the lap of the innocent owner and washing their hands of the situation. Clearly there are Freightliner lawyers involved in this. This mess would cost them a bundle to clear up. If it's happening in the Freightliner motor home chassis, imagine the number of Freightliner truck chassis are out there, which FAR outnumber their motor home chassis in number, with this same issue. Freightliner is flipping you all the bird.

2nd Vectra/Horizon on Freightliner chassis I have looked at w/mileage wrong.

I have the same problem with my 2006 Coachman 382DS with the ISB engine. Dealer when I bought it told me of the problem and gave me written proof of the difference. The coach only had 12,000 miles on the odometer but the contract had 18,343 more. I was told that it could not be changed. The ECM had to be changed out before I bought it and after having full service at 4 different Freightliner Oasis dealers I was told by all of them that it could not be changed, to use the ECM for actual mileage. fwiw!

Well past time for that letter writing campaign, letters to the editor, letters to the RV magazines, loud noises at all the rallies and Freightliner dealers and maybe a trip to the local newspapers. When the noise gets loud enough and nasty enough, they'll change. First you have to hit the mule between the eyes with a 2x4 to get his attention.

05 Vectra here with this issue. Bought it this way and know what the actual mileage is so it doesn't bother me. Previous owner provided documentation on it.

my ECU/ECM odometer is 1557 miles different than what is indicated on the IP cluster, the IP cluster is the one i use for everything as its higher than whats on the ecu/ecm.

this occurred right after i had an an ecu/ecm update for a recall near the 1557 mile mark.
ever since then the engine odometer has lagged the dash by the 1557 miles.

cummins told me that the ecu/ecm mileage is actual on chassis. I dis agree.
but its noted in my maintenance records
