Air cleaner replacement

Whats the correct way to remove the old filter? And how do you get to it? This is a 2003 Phaeton, the exhaust is mounted directly below. Thanks!

There should be a removable panel in the rear compartment next to the air filter.

Since this is a Tiffin body design problem rather than a Freightliner chassis issue, you might get better answers in the Tiffin owners Forum. I'm sending you a message that will move it if you would like.

I have a 2002 Phaeton and I had the same issue. I ended up taking off the exhaust pipe to change it. I know whoever designed this has NEVER had to change one. Just a side note, the piece closest to the back of the RV is plastic and the tabs break off easy. Hope this helps.

Same thing happens in the automotive industry. Any design engineer should have to work in the field from 2-4 years before being allowed to even come near the development of a new design. I have a Winnebago on the Freightliner XC chassis and just barely had room for the air clean to drop down past the exhaust pipe and muffler.

Making a mental note- Don't buy a Tiffin.

I wouldn't write off Tiffin just for that reason. My 2006 Phaeton has an access panel for easy access to the filter. I think 2005 and later have this. I don't know about earlier models.

It was just a joke. Actually I'd buy a good pair of tin snips before tearing out the tail pipe.

changing the air cleaner

WAGONMASTER 2 , i have a 39k meridian itasca and my filter is getting close to change out time. i try to do any maintenance that i can to save money. apparently you have changed your air filter and i would appreciate any tips you have for that task. i've been looking and it doesn't look so easy, but i still want to do it. i've been to cat and haven't been successful in finding the filter. obviously, i don't have the filter part #no., hope you ,might have that also. thanks, pawpawboyce
