Allison 3000MH connector identification help

Hello all,
Fairly new owner (Feb 2022) of a 2003 Fleetwood Discovery 39J, approx 42K mi. CAT 3126 engine.

I have been researching as much as possible on my coach for critical maintenence points and preventative items.

The service history of my coach is not 100% airtight so naturally I have ran into a lot of questions.

When I was underneath the coach completing an oil change I noticed a clip is disconnected from the bottom of the Allison 3000MH transmission and I cant easily see where it went to. The trans is working fine and no codes are being thrown and no issues. Just weird to see a connector not...connected.

Are there any gurus out there that can help me identify it? Thank you in advance.

DP - I have the same plug on my unit. I’m not Allison guru but if I had to guess I would say it’s a diagnostic or calibration plug in port for a mech. I have a couple of those type plugs on my Cat engine too which are for diagnostics and calibration when in for service.

Okay I see that, thanks for the quick response. Thats probably what it is, and maybe a cover end is just missing? That would probably be common for an older coach.

If so then I'll just cover the connecter and secure it with a zip tie to keep it out of the way.

Thanks so much

Sorry Ray I should have circled it, my bad! Its down near the bottom of the transmission in the photo, the connector is sort of facing the camera. I'll post a circled photo.

Good idea covering it, the one on my unit still has what looks like the factory cover/terminator.

Earlier versions of the 3000 series had a turbine sensor in the middle of the transmissions ; that's what the connector is for ; the newer transmissions only have the two sensors , but the harness continued to be built with the third sensor plug.

Ah! I bet thats it, means I should probably just source a cover for it or make water tight and secure it.

Thanks for the help!

I see it now, I didn't know that plug existed, I'll have to look at my A/T when I get the MH back from the body shop to see if it has that plug. Mine is a 1999 yr.

All vehicle mfgrs. use premade wiring harness's to fit applications with every available option for that yr. For instance, my 3013 Silverado has empty plugs all over the wiring harness's, as it is the cheapest model they sold in 2013.

That makes total sense, thank you so much for the reply.

I think Im just going to put a small piece of heat shrink around the connecter and seal it up really good. It sounds likely to me that it is a diagnostic port, or simply a connection that may go unused as you indicated.

Thanks again.
