Wow, not just a Freightliner problem. Volvo, Kenworth, Peterbilt other big truck manufactures effected by Bendix steering box problems

I am guessing at least the big C's that are built on class 8 chassis are affected and possibly class A's as well.

Unfortunately such issues are the side effects of monopolies. freightliner being part of the daimler trucking NA (DTNA) empire has no concerns on how many defective products they sell. DTNA owns one too many trucking and trucking related (& buses) companies in US. They have very little or no competition in some case, hence no concerns what so ever about their products. Thats why there is a consent order from NHTSA hanging around their necks for repeated violation of a host of safety related issues.

Even if some of these issues my be originated from a supplier, you can be sure all of these manufactures DO KNOW full well about their defective issues first hand. Their main concerns is to make the sale, then worry about the problem down the road.

Unless and until, the owners, customers raise concerns over such mis-conducts, such practices would only get worst.

One recall does not make an OEM a bad company. There is thousands of parts in vehicles. But if they continue to have several every year over many years, yes they are. Think like the largest manufacturer of RVs....

From the last paragraph…“ Daimler reported to NHTSA that it had 6,492 involved vehicles, including certain 2021-2022 Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp” vehicles.

Ill be watching the mail (again).
